Machine Felting/Needle Punch
Learn the dry felting technique Suzanne used in her pieces that will be seen in Issue #25 of Through the Needle. This is the latest thing in machine work! Learn how to felt fabric using wools, yarns and wool roving. This process can be used for wearable art, art quilts or anything the imgination can dream. Participants must have a felting machine or a machine which will take a felting adaptor.

Designing With Thread
Don't need another UFO but want to learn new techniques? This class is designed to teach various techniques of thread work along with the pros and cons of the many stabilizing products on the market. You'll learn the easy "paint by number" technique that Suzanne has developed, that created this little fish you see. Her offsite construction technique makes this easy, even for the novice and you'll learn how to create your own design. The designs can then be incorporated in either traditional or non-traditional work.

Creative Fabric Art
Create a fabric art landscape or still life. This is the technique that Suzanne uses to create her award winning art. These pieces are suitable for either finishing as a traditional wall hanging or for matting and framing. The workshop can be structured to accommodate either beginners or advanced students. Additionally, class may be expanded to a 2 day workshop which will include learning to draw a design from students' photo. (additional fee) Be sure to go to the "Gallery" to see other samples.

Painted Floral Wall Hanging
In this workshop learn techniques for machine thread painting while creating a beautiful wall hanging like the Pansies shown on front. Using regular sewing threads as well as satin, embroidery and metallic threads class participants will learn Suzanne's technique for "offsite construction" that takes the "scary" out of the process. This fun workshop also includes working with fabrics which are non-traditional for quilters such as brocades, lames and satins as well as our beloved cottons. Workshop is based on one of Suzanne's original patterns selected in advance, however, all participants must work on the same subject.

Fabric Dyeing
Hands on class teaches participants how to dye fabric using a variety of techniques including traditional tie dyeing, bumaki, salting and low water immersion. Learn how to create those beautiful fabrics that are wonderful for both piecing and appliqué. Fee includes all dyeing products. Special PFD fabric available from Suzanne.

Batik
Learn the art of batik using the traditional waxing technique and fiber reactive dyes. Completed fabric is colorfast and excellent for all quilting projects. Class fee includes wax and dyes. Special PFD fabric available from Suzanne. No experience needed, this class is for everyone, even the novice.

Silk Dyeing
Learn the ancient art of Japanese wax resist dyeing on silk (Roketsuzome) and Gutta resist techniques. Students learn the 10 basic techniques of Roketsuzome and Gutta resist to create fantastic pieces of silk suitable for quilting, clothing or as art to be mounted and framed. No previous dyeing experience is needed. Starter kit with dyes and resist available for purchase.
